Functionality

Identity Broker for Microsoft FIM v5.0 is an Extensible Connectivity Management Agent 2.0 (ECMA2) which enables generated management agents to interface with Identity Broker using the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP).  The adapter supports the following operations:

  • Call-based full and delta imports
  • Call-based exports
  • Password synchronization

Each configured management agent can correspond to one or several adapters in the Identity Broker instance.

Identity Broker for Microsoft FIM v4.0 and v4.1 are comprised of two main components:

  • An Extensible Connectivity Management Agent (ECMA1) providing an interface between FIM and Identity Broker; and
  • An Identity Broker plugin for extending Identity Broker to generate packaged management agents for FIM.

The management agent component is a single DLL extension enabling generated management agents to interface with Identity Broker using Windows Communication Foundation (WCF). The adapter supports the following operations:

  • File-based full and delta imports
  • Call-based exports
  • Password synchronization

LDAP Data Interchange Format (LDIF) is used for retrieving and exporting identity information.

Each configured management agent corresponds to a single adapter in the Identity Broker instance.

The plugin adds an xMA generator to the Identity Broker service, enabling each adapter to be represented as a packaged management agent for interaction with FIM.
