3. Information that we collect

3.1 Sources from which we collect

Generally, we collect information from:

  • you;
  • through our website and by other electronic communication channels;
  • third parties;
  • publicly available sources of information;
  • when we are required to do so by law; and
  • our own records.
The Personal Information we collect may include:

  • your salutation, name, address, landline, mobile and fax numbers and e-mail address;
  • company and business name, job title, business sector and contact details;
  • details of the ways in which you are prepared to receive information from us and/or selected third parties; and
  • data collected to send information about our products and services.
3.2 Website Visitors

Like most website operators, unifyvoice.userecho.com collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. unifyvoice.userecho.com’s purpose in collecting non-personally-identifying information is to better understand how unifyvoice.userecho.com’s visitors use its website. From time to time, unifyvoice.userecho.com may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, eg, by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its website.

unifyvoice.userecho.com also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses in addition to those listed in 3.1 above. unifyvoice.userecho.com does not use such information to identify its visitors, however, and does not disclose such information, other than under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information, as described below.

3.3 Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information

Certain visitors to unifyvoice.userecho.com’s websites choose to interact with unifyvoice.userecho.com in ways that require unifyvoice.userecho.com to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that unifyvoice.userecho.com gathers depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, we ask visitors who use our forums to provide a username and email address. In each case, unifyvoice.userecho.com collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with unifyvoice.userecho.com. unifyvoice.userecho.com does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. And visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities.

We may:

  • require the selection of a user ID and password for the use of some of our products or services such as where you register to gain access to our web tools and products;
  • offer you the opportunity to receive email updates and announcements concerning our products, services and activities. Personal Information you have provided to us may be used to facilitate those communications;
  • collect information about you from e-mails, letters, telephone calls or from any other communication you have sent or may send to us; or
  • collect additional Personal information automatically about your visit to our Site (e.g. our web server logs your IP address when you view a page on our Site).
3.4 Aggregated Statistics

unifyvoice.userecho.com may collect statistics about the behaviour of visitors to its websites. For instance, unifyvoice.userecho.com may reveal how many downloads a particular version got, or say which plugins are most popular based on checks from web services used by unifyvoice.userecho.com installations to check for new versions of unifyvoice.userecho.com and plugins. However, unifyvoice.userecho.com does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below.

We may also use and disclose information:

  • in aggregate (so that no individuals are identified) for marketing and strategic development purposes; and

By using the Site you consent to us using your Personal Information for the purposes described above.

5. Use of Cookies

Cookies are small amounts of information which we may store on your computer (after you register on our Site) to enable our server to collect certain information from your web browser. Cookies in themselves do not identify the individual user, just the computer used. Cookies and other similar technology make it easier for you to log on to and use the Site during future visits (e.g. they may maintain a shopping basket for your publication orders and event bookings). It also allows us to monitor website traffic, to identify you when you visit this Site, to personalise the content of the Site for you and to enable you to both carry out transactions and have access to information about your account. Cookies themselves only record which areas of the site have been visited by the computer in question, and for how long. Allowing us to create a cookie does not give us access to the rest of your computer and we will not use cookies to track your online activity once you leave our site. Cookies are read only by the server that placed them, and are unable to execute any code or virus.

6. Disclosures

The Personal Information you provide to us may be accessed by or given to our staff and to third parties including our business partners, government bodies and law enforcement agencies, successors in title to our business and suppliers we engage to process data on our behalf, who act for us for the purposes set out in this policy or for other purposes approved by you. Those parties process information, fulfil and deliver orders and provide support and other services on our behalf. We may also:

  • disclose Personal Information you have provided through our Site to persons or companies that we retain to carry out promotions and other activities for which you have registered or in which you have otherwise asked to participate;
  • pass aggregate information on the usage of our Site (e.g. we might disclose the numbers of visitors to our Site that come from different geographic areas) to third parties but this will not include information that can be used to identify you personally;

We (and our third party suppliers) will retain your Personal Information for a reasonable period or as long as the law requires.

Given that the Internet is a global environment, using the Internet to collect and process Personal Information necessarily involves the transmission of data on an international basis. Therefore by browsing this Site and communicating electronically with us, you acknowledge and agree to our processing of Personal Information in this way.

Whereas we employ reasonable measures to protect against viruses and other harmful components, the nature of the internet is such that it is impossible to ensure that your access to the Site will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that this Site, its servers or emails which may be sent by us are free of viruses or other harmful components.
